DU admission papers leak: 3 placed on 4-day remand

Dhaka court today placed 2 BCL men and an admission seeker, who were arrested for their alleged involvement in leaking question paper of honours admission test of Dhaka University, on four-day remand.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhtar passed the order after a Criminal Investigation Department inspector produced them before the court with seven-day remand prayer.

CID arrested them for having their hands in leaking question paper of the university's honours admission test yesterday.

A case was lodged with Shahbagh Police Station under Public Exam Law and Information Technology Act against the 2 BCL men and the admission seeker. CID is now investigating the case.

Hours after the allegation, Bangladesh Chhatra League in a press release said it expelled Rana from the student front of the ruling Awami League for violating “organisational code of conduct.”

The arrestees are Mohiuddin Rana, a masters student of Physics Department and also an assistant secretary of the BCL central committee; and Abdullah Al Mamun, a third-year student of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and also the theatre and debate affairs secretary of the BCL's Amar Ekushey Hall unit.

The two were picked up by the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of police from two DU dormitories early hours yesterday. During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted their involvement in the crime, said CID.

The third one, Ishrak Ahmed Rafi, was detained by the mobile court when he was taking the exam yesterday. Later, the CID took him in its custody.
