Dhaka city bus service to be brought under 6 companies

The whole public bus transportation system for the Dhaka city and the peripheral areas will be brought under six companies, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon said today.

The mayor was talking to media after a meeting of the Bus Route Rationalisation committee which was formed to bring city bus service under discipline.

The committee has taken the decision to develop the transport management and bring discipline to the transport sector of the city, the mayor said.

The whole process will be implemented within the December of next year (2020), he added.

Following the meeting, Khokon also reiterated that the circular bus service in Motijheel will be launched in the end of May and in Uttara in the first week of this month.

Besides, the committee has also decided to take up a feasibility study on the possibility of launching a circular bus service covering Gulistan, Sadarghat and Babubazar bridge route, he added.
