Detectives arrested two accused in a murder case filed for killing a journalist at Jatrabari on March 9.

Foysal Ahmed and Jahirul Islam Jony were held from Jatrabari area in the early hours of today, Joint Commissioner of Detective Branch of police Abdul Baten told journalists at a press briefing at the DMP media center.

Shumon Shikdar, the editor of an online news portal Islamic News Online, was found dead at a house in Shaheed Faruk Road of Jatrabari on March 9, Abdul Baten said.

A murder case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station following the body recovery, the official said.

The arrestees have already confessed to their crime in primary questioning, Baten added.

Detectives bust fake note factory, arrest 4

In separate drive, a Detective Branch team arrested four people after busting a fake note manufacturing factory in Mohammadpur along with a laptop, printer, cartridge and special kind of paper, the joint commissioner said.

The arrestees, Humayun Kabir, Saiful Islam, Swapan Dutta and Saidur Rahman, were held with Tk 30 lakh fake Indian Rupees, the official said.

During interrogation, Humayun Kabir said that he has been doing this for over 10 years.

They sell each bundle of 1 lakh rupee for Tk 8,000 to Tk 10,000 on the Chapainawabganj border, from where their Indian counterparts spread it all over India.
