Defamation suit against CU VC withdrawn

Sociology Professor of Chittagong University Gazi Saleh Uddin on Tuesday withdrew the defamation case against its Vice-Chancellor Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury.

According to the case filed with a Chittagong court on December12, at a public programme organsied on last November 28 to pay tribute to the former CU VC Abu Yusuf Alam at Theatre Institute Chittagong, Prof Iftekhar expressed doubts as to whether Prof Gazi Saleh was a freedom fighter. At that time, Gazi Saleh was also on the stage.

Prof Gazi said he withdrew the case as the VC regretted. Dr Iftekahr said some well-wishers helped them resolve the issue.
