DCCI initiates paperless office functions

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) initiated paperless secretarial functions with its first board meeting in the capital yesterday, a first initiative by the country's any trade body.

The DCCI in its board meeting used multimedia projector and laptops for the board members and refrained from using files of huge printed papers.

With this initiative, DCCI saved huge papers and working hours to go green and also fulfilled its commitment to be a digital Chamber by this year, said its statement.

The DCCI through its 'go green' initiative has taken the step for establishing transparent and accountable secretarial functions.

It successfully used its own-built automated software to run the agenda of the board meeting in chronological order.

“With a digital document management system, all documents can immediately be scanned and electronically stored, making it easy to send. It's an ethical commitment to save our livable environment,” said acting DCCI President Humayun Rashid. It will help conserve and protect natural resources for future generations and protect human health, he said.

Rashid also called upon all corporate and government offices to become paperless which will help reducing extra costs and time leading to ensure efficiency and green world.
