DCC Market Fire: BNP blames ruling party

The BNP yesterday blamed that the fire at Gulshan-1 DCC market was an “act of sabotage” and blamed the ruling party for its hands behind the fire.

“It was an act of sabotage and the ruling party's link was behind the fire,” BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed made the allegation at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office in the capital.

The BNP leader urged all to be vigilant so that the businessmen were not evicted from the market.

“Business leaders have already rejected the government's probe committee.

We are demanding punishment for the culprits who are behind the incident,” he said.

A devastating fire erupted in DCC market on Monday night.

Criticising the DNCC mayor's comment that the incident was an accident, Rizvi said, “After any incident, ruling party men including the prime minister make comments to hinder the investigation. It indicates that the incident (fire) was planned.”
