Ashkona raid: 2 bodies of slain militants buried at Jurain graveyard

The bodies of two “militants” who were killed during a raid in Ashkona of Dakkhin Khan area in Dhaka in December last year were buried by Anjuman Mofidul Islam at Jurain graveyard in the capital today.

Earlier in the day, the bodies were handed over to the charity body for burial.

The two bodies – of a woman and a teenager – were handed to Anjuman Mofidul Islam around 11:00am, Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of forensic medicine department at Dhaka Medical College, told The Daily Star.

The bodies were buried at Jurain graveyard in the capital around 12:45pm, said Nur Amin, a duty officer of Anjuman Mofidul Islam. 

The counter-terrorism unit of Dhaka police raided a three-storey building suspecting the militants’ presence on the night of December 23, last year.

During the operation codenamed ‘Ripple 24’, two “militants” were killed and four including wife and daughter of slain Neo JMB military chief Maj (retd) Jahidul Islam surrendered to police.
