CU student held as Shibir suspect

A third-year student of Chittagong University was detained yesterday on suspicion that he is an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir.

Some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of CU unit confined Didarul Islam -- a student of the anthropology department -- around 1:30pm when he went to AF Rahman hall to withdraw his second-year mark-sheet, said an eye-witness.

On information, the university authority rescued Didarul and handed him over to police suspecting him to be a Shibir activist.

Belal Mohammad Jahangir, officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station, said they were interrogating him.
