A three-year old boy was found abandoned in “critical condition” at Gabtoli Bus Terminal last night.

The boy, whose identity could not be known, is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with high fever and convulsion, doctors said.

Locals found the boy around 9:30 pm in critical state and informed Darussalam Police Station, Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Darussalam Police Station, said adding that none knows who left the boy there or about his abode.

The boy was immediately taken to a local hospital early today and later he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

While visiting the boy, our Staff Correspondent found him senseless and wearing breathing mask in ward no. 210 on the second floor of the hospital.

“The boy’s condition is critical. He needs to get admitted to Paediatric ICU but unfortunately the hospital does not have such unit for children of his age,” said a female physician who was looking after the boy.

The boy has high fever, breathing problem and convulsion, she added.

“Kidnappers might have left the boy for being sick while abducting the boy. We are still investigating the matter,” the OC further said, adding that a general diary was filed in this connection.
