Glitch in PM’s Flight

Cops again get time to submit probe report

A Dhaka court yesterday again asked the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of DMP to submit by December 11 the probe report of the case filed over technical glitch in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s flight.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ahsan Habib passed the order after Mahbub Alam, an inspector of the CTTC and also the investigation officer of the case, failed to submit any probe report yesterday.

Earlier on September 17, the same court asked the unit to submit the probe report by yesterday. With this, the IO took seven dates for doing so.

The VVIP flight carrying Hasina made an emergency landing on November 27 last year at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan after a loose nut had caused leakage of engine oil lowering the oil pressure of engine No-1 of the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Later on December 21, Wing Commander (retd) MM Asaduzzaman, director of engineering and material management of Biman, filed the case against nine employees under the Special Powers Act with Airport Police Station.
