Comilla night guard 'burnt to death'

A night guard was burnt to death allegedly by a gang of robbers at Gouripur Bazar in Daudkandi upazila early yesterday.

Traders of the Bazar said they found the charred body of night guard Safiqul Islam, 40, of Pacchim Huglia village, and informed police.

Robbers might have set Safiqul on fire after pouring petrol on his body as he tried to obstruct them, said Mohidul Islam, superintendent of police in Comilla, quoting traders.

The body was sent to a hospital for an autopsy.
