Comilla city polls above question: CEC

Chief Election Commission KM Nurul Huda today claimed that the Comilla City Corporation election was held in a free, fair and credible manner except some isolated incidents.

“Some isolated incident took place in the polls. But the election was above question,” he said during a post-election briefing at the EC secretariat in Dhaka.

He said re-election will be held in two centres as voting was suspended as law and order situation in the area went out of control.

Huda said there were some attempts to create untoward situation centring the elections but the commission has foiled those evil efforts.

Responding to a query, he said BNP lodged several allegations over irregularities in the election but most of those were not true.
