Cold storage sealed in Dhaka for storing date-expired meat

A mobile court today sealed a cold storage in the city’s Jatrabari area for storing date-expired meat and fish alongside chemical materials.

It also fined the SB Cold Storage Tk 50 lakh and awarded its managers Sekendar Ali with one year in jail, said Sarwoer Alam, executive magistrate who led the drive.

A team of Rab-3 in association with Department of Fisheries and Department of Livestock Service conducted the drive.

Sarwoer said they seized 320 mounds of date expired buffalo meat imported from India and 245 mounds of fishes.

Those are being dumped with the help of Dhaka South City Corporation, he said adding that huge chemical items were also stored in the building alongside the foodstuff.
