Clear illegal structures from collectorate's office premises

HC asks authorities in Jessore

The High Court yesterday ordered the authorities concerned to demolish unauthorised structures constructed on the collectorate office premises in Jessore in seven days.

The court asked the Anti Corruption Commission to inquire into the allegation of constructing unauthorised structures there.

It also issued a rule asking the authorities to explain in four weeks as to why their inaction to prevent construction of such structures should not be declared illegal.

The bcourt gave the order and rule following a petition filed by Jessore court lawyer Mahbub Alam. At least seven tin-roofed houses were built illegally in the name of workers welfare association on the premises, says the petition.
