A clash erupted between two rival groups of Bihari communities at Geneva camp in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area this morning.

At least 30 Bihari people received minor injuries during the clash. Of them, three victims took primary treatment from Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, our correspondent reports quoting the witnesses.

Police force deployed at scene to control the situation, Jane Alam Munshi, a sub-inspector (investigation) of Mohammadpur Police Station, told The Daily Star.

The clash ensued as both groups hurled brick chunks around 11:30am. One hour later when police reached there to control the situation, the Bihari people hurled brick chunks on them too, SI Munshi said.

Taking the situation in control, the law enforcers raided at the camp around 1:00pm and recovered knives and brick chunks from different places of the camp, Wahiduzzman, additional deputy commissioner (Tejgaon Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, briefed reporters at 2:15pm there.

The clash was a sequel of yesterday’s chase and counter-chase between them, the police official said.
