Bdjobs CEO freed hours after arrest under section 57

AKM Fahim Mashroor, the chief executive officer (CEO) of job site bdjobs.com, has been freed hours after he was arrested today in a case filed under Section 57 of the ICT Act.

“CEO of bdjobs.com Fahim Mashroor has been released after interrogation. Enough evidence to prove the allegations brought against him could not be found in his Facebook account,” said Nazmul Islam, additional deputy commissioner of Cyber Security & Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Further investigation into the case is going on, he added.

Md Al Sadik, a former secretary of Dhaka University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, sued him for spreading “propaganda, misleading information and derogatory status” during recent quota reform agitation.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested him from his office at Bangladesh Development Bank Ltd (BDBL) building in Karwanbazar this morning, according to DMP news.

According to the case statement, he has been accused of creating destabilising and anarchic situation.
