A global summit on business process outsourcing (BPO) began in Dhaka today with an aim to earn $1 billion from the sector in the next six years and create two lakh jobs.

The ICT division and Bangladesh Association of Call Centre and Outsourcing jointly organised the two-day summit at Sonargaon Hotel with the participation of 79 local and nine international analysts.

Inaugurating the event, prime minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy said, “Our internet connectivity will never cut. So, global BPO can trust us.”

Around 70 percent of the government services have been digitalised which was unimaginable six years back, he added.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was also present as discussant at the programme.
