Bus driven by helper hits 3-wheeler, kills 5 in Tangail

Five persons, including a pregnant woman, were killed when a bus driven by the helper ran over an oncoming battery-run three-wheeler carrying them on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Kostapara in Tangail Sadar upazila yesterday.

Two of the dead were identified as Abdul Aziz, 35, and the driver, Kabir Hossain, 30. One of the unidentified passengers died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The accident occurred around 9:30am when the helper alone was driving the empty bus of Prantik Paribahan from Tangail New Bus Terminal to a nearby filling station, said Elenga Highway police, adding that the unidentified helper managed to flee.
