BNP extends time to recruit new members

The BNP yesterday extended time for one month to collect new members and renewal of memberships as it failed to recruit one crore new members by September 1, said Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, party's senior joint secretary general at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters in the capital.

According to BNP central office, the party has so far sold 60.56 lakh party membership forms and earned over Tk 6 crore by selling it at Tk 10 each.

They said they could not carry out the drive due to flood in 27 districts, inclement weather, intra-party conflicts and obstruction by police and ruling party activists.
