The Biswa Ijtema has been extended by a day after yesterday morning's unexpected rain delayed the programme.

The Muslim congregation would conclude tomorrow with the second Akheri Munajat on the bank of the Turag river in Tongi.

“There was a delay due to rain. The Akheri Munajat will be held on Tuesday instead of Monday,” said Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir .

Tomorrow's Munajat would be administered by Syed Wasiful Islam, leader of a Tabligh Jamaat faction.

According to weather forecast, rain accompanied by occasional gusty wind is likely to continue today in some areas of Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet.

It would be very difficult for the devotees to be in the open if rain continues, Syed Anisuzzaman, a Tabligh faction leader, told this correspondent.
