BCL reinstates IU suspended leader

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) reinstated Faisal Siddiki Arafat of Islamic University unit after the pro-Awami League student organisation suspended him for allegedly vandalising a temple and idols on the university campus on March 30, 2016. A press release, signed by BCL central president and its secretary, was issued in this regard on Wednesday.

Arafat was a second year law student in 2016 and joint general secretary of BCL's IU unit committee, which was later dissolved.

Jewel Rana Halim, general secretary of BCL IU unit, said Arafat mistakenly threw a chair that hit and broke the window shield of the temple. No a single idol was broken, he claimed. Arafat was suspended the same day.
