Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Station Kamrul Islam said locals handed over three activists to police after the incident.

Critically injured five students were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Additional police have been deployed on the campus to avid further trouble.

Our Mymensingh correspondent adds: the students vacated the halls yesterday morning, a week before starting of Eid vacation, which was scheduled from July 14-26.

The BAU authorities at an emergency meeting announced closure of all academic activities from yesterday merging with the Eid vacation, said BAU proctor AKM Zakir Hossain.

“The provost council took the decision to avert untoward incidents on the campus,” said the proctor.
