BCL has ruined its glorious image: Kader Siddique

Criticising Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Krishak Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique yesterday said BCL has ruined its glorious image by attacking quota reform protestors and teachers.

He was addressing a press conference organised by Krishak Sramik Janata League at the Jatiya Press Club.

“During the [martial law] regime, General Ayub Khan's Students' Federation broke the bones of Chhatra League activists with hammer. It is a matter of great shame that BCL is using the same way of torturing people,” he said.

“My suggestion to the government is to stop BCL,” said Kader Siddique.

He said that his party feels the need for national unity.

He, however, said that his party “wants to keep distance from Awami League and BNP” and form a coalition with other political parties except Jamaat-e-Islami.  The coalition will be led by President of Gono Forum, Dr Kamal Hossain, and Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh President Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury.

He urged the government to hold fair and free election by reforming the Election Commission.
