Justice Anwarul Haque laid to rest

Justice Anwarul Haque, who headed one of the war trial tribunals of Bangladesh, was laid to rest at Jurain graveyard this afternoon.

The burial took place at around 3:30pm following a namaz-e-janaza at Supreme Court premises post Jumma today.

Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, Law Minister Anisul Huq, judges of the appellate and high court divisions, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Supreme Court Bar Association President Advocate Zainul Abedin, prime minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Supreme Court lawyers and officials attended the namaz-e-janaza.

A Milad Mahfil will be held at his judges’ complex residence after Asr prayer on July 17, Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Sazu told The Daily Star.

Justice Anwarul Haque, chairman of International Crimes Tribunal-1, died of cancer at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka yesterday. He was 61.
