Investigators got two more days to submit their report on the alleged plane hijacking incident at Chattogram airport on February 24.

“As the committee to investigate  the “plane hijacking” incident could not complete their work yet, the deadline for submitting report was extended for two days,” Civil Aviation Secretary Mohibul Haque told The Daily Star today.

Now, the committee will have to submit the report by Tuesday, he said.

On February 25, Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry formed a probe committee to investigate “plane hijacking” incident at Chattogram airport.

The committee is determined to complete its investigation within the stipulated five working days and make the report public.

The ministry’s Additional Secretary Md Mokabbir Hossain is leading the five-member probe body.

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines made an emergency landing at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport on the evening of February 24 after Polash Ahmed allegedly attempted to hijack the plane.

He was killed later in an eight-minute operation by the members of army para commando unit.
