ASI beats shopkeeper inside police station

An assistant sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station was closed to Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Wari Division for allegedly assaulting a shopkeeper inside the station yesterday.

Deputy Commissioner of Wari Division of DMP Farid Uddin said ASI Robjel asked shopkeeper Iqbal to keep a bag at the latter's shop opposite the police station.

When Iqbal refused to do so, the ASI dragged him to the duty officer's room and beat him, reported Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

An enquiry team was formed, he said.
