Arrest warrant issued against Imran H Sarkar

A Dhaka court yesterday again issued arrest warrant against Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker as he skipped the hearing in a defamation case filed against him over making “derogatory remarks” about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on May 23.

The court passed the order after Imran's lawyer submitted a petition saying that his client could not appear before it due to unavoidable circumstances.

Another accused of the case, cultural activist Sanatan Ullash, was present at the court yesterday.

The court fixed January 4 for hearing on charge framing against the accused in the case.

Earlier on September 20, the same court issued arrest warrant against the duo as they skipped hearing in the defamation case that day.

The following day, Imran got bail after appearing before the court.

BCL leader Golam Rabbani filed the case against them on May 31 with the court.
