Another dies of dengue in Dhaka

One more patient died of dengue, mosquito-borne disease, at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) this morning, taking the countrywide death toll to 128.

However, the official figure of deaths stood at 57.

Deceased Hasan Fakir, 45, of Chitalmari village in Bagerhat, was a security guard of Madina Group in Old Dhaka.

Hasan was diagnosed with dengue after he was admitted to the DMCH on August 29, the hospital's Assistant Director (administration) Dr Nasir Uddin told The Daily Star.

He breathed his last around 11:30am, Dr Nasir said.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 902 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals and clinics till 8am yesterday across the country, significantly up from Saturday's tally of 760.

With the number, total number of dengue cases have risen to 71,097, of which 41,098 are in Dhaka, and 29,999 outside Dhaka.
