Another arrest warrant for Ragib Ali, son

A Sylhet court yesterday issued another arrest warrant against industrialist Ragib Ali and his son Abdul Hai in a case filed for holding the posts of publisher and editor of a local newspaper while being fugitive in a land grabbing case.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Sylhet Saifuzzaman Hiru issued the warrant, said Mahfuzur Rahman, public prosecutor.

The case was filed by Giash Uddin Talukder, president of Chhatak Upazila Press Club on September 8, for using their names in the printer's line of Dainik Sylheter Dak, a local Bangla daily, while they remained absconding. Later on September 9, Sylhet CMM took the allegation in cognizance and ordered Ragib and his son to explain their positions within October 9. Yesterday, the court issued the arrest warrant as they did not appear, said Mahfuzur.

The same court on August 10 issued a warrant against Ragib and five members of his family, including his son, in two cases filed for occupying the land of Tarapur Tea Estate in Akhalia.
