Law enforcers today rescued a three-month-old girl, who was stolen from Dhaka Medical College Hospital last night, from Narayanganj.

The baby was rescued from Kashipur area of Narayanganj around 5:20pm, said Abul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station.

The baby has been handed over to its parents, the OC added.

Jewel Mia, the girl’s father and a rickshaw-puller from Mymensingh, alleged his daughter “Jim” was stolen from the hospital last night.

His nephew Rafsan Farazi told journalists that Jewel Mia was hospitalised on October 31 with physical ailment. His wife Sumaiya Akhter was attending him at DMCH.

Last night, Sumaiya fell asleep with her daughter in a vacant bed beside Jewel’s bed in ward no. 701.

Around 12:30am, Jewel woke up but did not see his baby. Failing to trace the baby, the family informed Shahbagh police, said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
