AL to rule until Hasina is alive

Ruling Awami League will rule as long as Sheikh Hasina is alive and active, the party's Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said yesterday.

"As long as Sheikh Hasina is alive and able to work, Bangladesh Awami league will remain in power under her leadership," Hanif said at the annual conference of Dhaka (south) city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League at Mahanagar Natya Manch in the capital.

"No evil force has the ability to oust her (Hasina) and grab the power in Bangladesh," he said. He also urged the party men to be united against conspiracies of the "evil forces".

The AL leader was also critical of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for his statement centring on the birth of BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, who is now in England.

Though Fakhrul said Tarique is the citizen of Bangladesh by born, Tarique is a citizen of Pakistan by birth as he was born in Karachi, claimed Hanif.
