Medical Admission Test Retake Demand

Agitators hope to strike at all edu institutes today

Medical college hopefuls are unwavering in their demand for a fresh test, and continue to assemble at the capital's Central Shaheed Minar to make their voice louder against the question leak, a crime long plaguing the competitive exams in the country. It was their eighth day at the memorial yesterday, and they plan to press on until the authorities respond appropriately. Photo: Star

Demonstrators will enforce a strike in all educational institutions today for their four-point demands, including fresh tests for admission to medical and dental colleges over allegations that the last exam's question papers had been leaked.

Progotishil Chhatra Jote and Samrajjobirodhi Chhatra Oikya, an alliance of 14 left leaning student organisations, announced this at a press briefing at Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University.

Demonstrating medical college admission seekers also urged all the students of public and private universities and medical colleges to boycott their classes and exams today.

On behalf of the protesters, Mohaimin Nion urged this on the 18th day of their demonstration at the Central Shahid Minar yesterday.

Imran Habib Rumon, convener of alliance, said the strike would be countrywide.

“We will lock the gates of some academic buildings of Dhaka University today in the morning and also continue our strike till 1:00pm,” DU unit president of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Rashed Shahrier told The Daily Star.

They demanded rerun of the test.

Last evening they also brought out a torch procession on DU campus and paraded streets of the campus.

Earlier in the morning, around 50 students demonstrated at the Central Shaheed Minar.
