Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud made a sudden visit to six primary and high schools in Chattogram today and found most of the teachers absent.

While visiting Kattoli Nurul Haque Chowdhury Primary School in the port city around 9:00am, the ACC chief found that the acting headmaster only attended the school while seven other teachers remained absent, our Chattogram correspondent reports.

He noticed that the students were spending idle time on the school premises, ACC Deputy Director in Chattogram Lutful Kabir Chondon told our correspondent.

Talking to the ACC chairman, guardians of most of the students expressed their dissatisfaction, the ACC official said.

“None will be spared if any negligence is found. The education policy must be implemented immediately,” the ACC official quoted Mahmud as saying.

After that, he went to Bhatiari Government Primary School where two of the 11 teachers were absent. Asked about the reason behind their absence, the school authorities could not say anything. Later, he also visited Shitalpur High School.

According to a Facebook post of the ACC, his sudden visit came after he came to know from a source that most of the schoolteachers in Chattogram do not attend their classes.
