ACC arrests waqfs official red-handed for bribery

Anti-Corruption Commission arrested an official of the Office of the Administrator of Waqfs Bangladesh while he was taking Tk 50,000 bribe at his office yesterday.

ACC Deputy Assistant Director Nazim Uddin later filed a case with Ramna Police Station against Assistant Director Motahar Hossain Khan, ACC sources said.

According to the case, Faruk Hossain, a member of a committee of Baghoir Jame Mosque in Keraniganj, appealed to the Waqfs Bangladesh office to allow it to sell its 0.94 decimal of lands on August 1, 2013. Faruk alleged that Motahar demanded Tk 5 lakh for doing so.

ACC said yesterday was fixed for handing over Tk 50,000 as the first installment.
