Abandoned baby Anisha no more

Anisha, the newborn baby recovered from a dustbin in Dhaka’s Mirpur area last month, has died while being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The post mortem of the baby was done at the morgue of DMCH today, Zahirul Islam, sub-inspector of Shah Ali Police Station, told The Daily Star.

“On Monday around 10:30am, we were informed by the Dhaka Medical College Hospital authorities that baby Anisha died on early Sunday around 2:00am,” said the SI.

The baby was rescued when she was just a day old from a dustbin on the Ashulia-Mirpur-Beribadh road in Shah Ali area of Dhaka’s Mirpur on March 11.

Doctors at the neonatal ICU informed police that she was suffering from jaundice, the SI added.

During the autopsy, the lung from her body was kept for examination, sources at the morgue told this correspondent.
