A nine-year-old madrasa student was killed as a bus ran over him at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka this afternoon.

Robiul Awal, son of Saidur Rahman, was a student of a madrasa in the city’s Karwan Bazar area. He hailed from Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj district.

The accident took place while Robiul along with two other boys was trying to cross the road around 2:00pm, said Mohammad Imon, a tea seller whose tea-stall is just 10 yards away from the spot.

However, the two of his fellows were unhurt.

Critically injured Robiul was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.

Majharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station, said that they seized the bus.
