81 BNP men get anticipatory bail

The High Court yesterday granted anticipatory bail to 81 BNP leaders and activists from Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj, in connection with three cases.

The court also ordered them to surrender before the trial court after 6 weeks in connection with the cases.

The HC bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the orders after hearing five separate petitions filed by the accused. They also appeared before the court bench for bail along with their bail petitions.

Petitioners' lawyer Mahbubur Rahman Khan said police filed three separate cases against 81 BNP men on February 3 on charges of violence and preventing police from discharging duties ahead of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's conviction in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
