Police today filed a case over the “suicide blast” at Ashkona accusing eight persons, which will be handed over to Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) for probe.

Sub-Inspector Rasheduzzaman filed the case with Airport Police Station accusing the dead attacker and seven to eight other anonymous persons this evening.

“The case will be transferred to Rab,” Nure Azam Mia, officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station. “The process of handing over is underway.”

A suspected suicide bomber sneaked into a Rab barrack and blew himself up in the capital's Ashkona – at the proposed headquarters of the elite force – on Friday.

It appeared to be first such attack by a suspected terrorist inside a law enforcement agency’s compound.
