10 killed in road accidents

At least 10 persons were killed 17 others injured in road accidents across the country in last two days.

In Narsingdi, Rabiul, 15, and Mamun, 15, tenth grade students at a local madrasa, were killed on spot yesterday when a vehicle carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch in Raipura upazila, police said.

Five others, who were injured in the incident, were taken to a local hospital. Of them, two were later transferred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), reports our correspondent.

In Mymensingh, college student Sohel Mia, 22; CNG driver Rajan Roy, 28; and Romichha Begum, 45, died yesterday after a Mymensingh-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head on with a micro-bus coming from the opposite direction in Muktagacha upazila on Mymensingh-Tangail highway, reports our correspondent.

The woman and the CNG driver died on the spot while four others including the college student were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, police said, adding Sohel succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. 

The injured three were taken to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital. A case has been filed in this regard.

In Gopalganj, passenger Sohid Khan, 30 was killed yesterday when the driver of the vehicle lost control over the vehicle and hit a roadside tree in Kotalipara upazila, reports our correspondent.

The incident left three injured who were admitted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital.

In Manikganj, Brac Bank official Abdur Rahman, 35, was killed when a three-wheeler collided head-on with a pickup van in Medulia area on Hemayetpur-Manikganj road, police said.

Six others were injured in the incident and admitted to local hospital for treatment.   

Meanwhile, in Brahmanbaria, private car driver Shahin Mia; passenger Achiya Begum, 78, and Rifat, 4, were killed on Tuesday after a Dhaka-bound truck collided head on with a Sylhet-bound private car on Dhaka-Sylhet highway, police said.

The driver was killed on the spot while the two others died while undergoing treatment at DMCH, reports our local correspondent.
