Seven professors awarded

Four renowned professors of the country have been awarded the “Razzaq-Shamsun Lifetime Achievement Award” and three others “Razzaq-Shamsun Research Prizes” for their contributions to promoting education and research in physics. 

The recipients of the lifetime achievement award are Prof Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmed, UGC's head of quality assurance unit; Dr Mohammad Idris Miah of Chittagong University; Prof Emeritus Dr Arun Kumar Basak, and Prof Dr M Alfaz Uddin of Rajshahi University (RU).

The recipients of research prizes are Dr Kazi Md Abul Firoz, research professor of Kyung-Hee University, South Korea; Prof Dr Ishtiaque M Syed of DU, and Prof Dr Abul Kalam Fazlul Haque of RU.

Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman handed over the award and prizes to the awardees as the chief guest at a programme yesterday, organised by the DU's Razzaq-Shamsun Trust Fund at the university's Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
