60-year-old killed in wall collapse

An elderly woman was killed and four of her family members were injured as the boundary wall of a municipality water tank collapsed on them in Saidpur municipality of Nilphamari yesterday.

The deceased was Asma Begum, 60, of Kazipara area in the municipality.

Locals said Asma and her family members were illegally digging soil beside the tank wall to fill up a ditch beside their house. As most of the soil at the base of the wall was removed the wall collapsed on them while they were moving soil.

Locals rushed them to Saidpur Hospital where Asma was declared dead.
