6 burnt at Kamrangichar factory fire

At least six people suffered burn injures as a fire broke out at a tailoring factory in Kamrangichar area of Dhaka early today.

The injured: Nazmul Islam, Sumon, Shakil, Monir Hossain, Ashique Ahmed and Sajib were whisked off to burn unit at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Kamrangirchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Mohsin.   

During the accident around 3:00am, the police officer said, the victims were sleeping inside the factory consisting of two rooms at Alipara in Kamrangichar.

By the time firefighters rushed to the spot, locals managed to douse the fire, said Inspector Bhajan Kumar Sarker of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters’ control room.

The fire might have been originated from short-circuit in the electric panel, he said.
