5 ‘arms traders’ held in Badda with pistols

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed arrest of five alleged arms traders from Dhaka’s Badda area and seized four foreign pistols from them.

Apart from the four foreign-made pistols, eight magazines and 38 bullets were also seized from their possession, Tuhin Md Masud, commanding officer of Rab-1 told reporters at Rab media center at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka.

The arrestees are: Md Rubel Sheikh, 24, Md Sohel Mollah, 24, Md Bahes Sheikh, 32, Md Abbas Mia, 25, and Md Ariful Islam Arif alias Pani Arif, 25.

They all are the members of an arms traders gang led by Tareque Ahmed Anik, who supplied 45 to 50 foreign pistols to different people in the city, said Rab official Tuhin.
