4 UCBL officials among 5 sued

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today filed a case against the managing director of a real estate firm and four officials of a private bank for misappropriating over Tk 9 crore in different phases from 2008-2012.

The accused are: Md Asad, managing director of Alampana Bangladesh Ltd, Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed, first vice-president (FVP), of United Commercial Bank Ltd (UCBL) Shantinagar branch, Anwar Hossain Pathan, former assistant vice-president of UCBL, Shantinagar branch, Mosiuddin Hossain, former manager (operations) of UCBL, Shantinagar branch.

Asad built a 15-storey residential cum commercial building taking a loan of Tk 7, 70, 00,000 from the bank with help of the four officials by submitting fake documents and counterfeit design, according to the first information report (FIR) of the case.

He also sold the same apartment more than once embezzling more Tk 1, 83, 00, 00 in different phases, the FIR read.
