4 ‘Huji men’ held with petrol bombs in Gazipur

Detectives in a drive arrested four suspected members of Harkat-ul-Jihad Bangladesh (Huji) with 14 petrol bombs and four crude bombs from Nandoain area in Gazipur city today.

The arrestees were identified as Khairul Islam of Joydebvpur, Golam Kibria of Mymensingh district, Aminul Haq and Shahidullah of Tangail district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the detectives conducted a drive in an abandoned building in the area and arrested the four with 14 petrol bombs, four crude bombs, said Harunur Rashid, superintendent of Gazipur Police at a press briefing this afternoon.

Several sharp weapons and jihadi books were seized from their possession, he said.

Of the arrestees, two were engineers while the two others were former students of International University of Technology, SP Rashid added.

They gathered in the abandoned building in an attempt to carry out sabotage in the city, he said.
