35,000 flood victims to get financial assistance

United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) jointly with the UK's Department for International Development will provide financial assistance to 35,000 flood victims in southeastern region of Bangladesh.

With the first payments beginning this week, WFP with local NGOs, has opened mobile bank accounts for the affected families which will receive Tk 3,000 per month over the next three months, said a press release yesterday.

To ensure that the assistance reaches those most vulnerable, those in participating communities can call 01755642157 and 01755642188 and express any concerns about the scheme.
