34th death anniversary of Selim, Delwar today

Today is the 34th death anniversary of HM Ibrahim Selim and Kazi Delwar Hossain, who sacrificed their lives for restoration of democracy in the country in 1980s.

On this day in 1984, Selim and Delwar, two Dhaka University Chhatra League leaders, were killed after a police truck ploughed into a student demonstration against the autocratic regime of HM Ershad near the capital's Gulistan area.

On the occasion, family members and various political and socio-cultural organisations will place wreaths at their memorials on the DU campus.
