300 bullets recovered in Narayanganj

Police yesterday claimed to have recovered 300 rounds of bullets in Narayanganj 18 days after the recovery of a huge cache of firearms and ammunition in the district's Rupganj.

Police arrested Sabbir Ahmed, 32, in this connection.

The latest recovery was made by the detectives in a bamboo cluster at Agarpara of Rupganj on Monday afternoon and the bullets were kept in a plastic box, said police.

The raid was conducted on information that a large number of arms was kept there, said Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ismail Hossain.

These recovered arms are linked with the incident of June 2 arms haul from Sector-5 in Purbachal Residential Area in Rupganj, he observed.

On that day, a huge cache of firearms, including two rocket launchers and 61 Chinese submachine guns (SMGs), were recovered from Narayanganj's Rupganj.

In connection with the incident, five people were arrested while one is on the run, said Rupganj police.
