3 get life term for murder

A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced three persons to life imprisonment for killing a man during a burglary in Hathazari upazila in 2009.

The three convicts are Khorshed Alam, Dil Mohammad and Mohammed Khokon, said court sources.

Chittagong Special District and Session Judge Sayeda Hosne Ara delivered the verdict, said the public prosecutor Jahangir Alam.

Of the trio, Khokon is behind bars while the two others are absconding, the PP added.

According to the case statement, the trio stabbed and killed the victim during a burglary at a departmental store on July 2009 when he, also the shop owner tried to bar them.

After the incident, a case was filed with Hathazari Police Station and the charge sheet was submitted in November 2009.
