3 die in road crashes

Three people, including a JDC examinee, were killed and 10 others injured in road accidents in Chittagong and Sylhet yesterday.

Our Sylhet correspondent reports, a Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinee was killed as a bus ran him over while he was going to attend JDC examination in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet.

The deceased, Sabbir Ahmed, 14, son of Ramjan Ali of Mollapara village, was a student of Mollapara Ahmadia Dakhil Madrasa.

Witnesses said the incident occurred when Sabbir was walking along the road in Kadamtala area. He died on the spot.

Anwarul Islam, inspector (investigation) of Osmaninagar Police Station, said locals blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet highway for two hours protesting the incident.

Our Chittagong correspondent reports, two people were killed and 10 others injured as a bus hit two three-wheelers as the bus driver lost control over the vehicle in Notun Bridger area under Bakalia Police Station in Chittagong city.

The deceased were Tanjina Kamal, 40, and Mohammad Rahim, 37, of Banshkhali upazila in the district, said Syed Ahmad, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the station.

The injured were rushed to different hospitals, he added.
